Advent Mass Practice

Wednesday (Thursday Night Write)

Hi 3H,

This past week we have started to learn about the three digit addition process. We have discussed and modeled two different strategies that can be used when solving these problems.  One is the right to left approach and the other is the newer approach which has you working the opposite way; left to right.

To avoid any confusion at home, I have put together two videos for you to watch with Mom and or Dad.  Hopefully these videos are helpful and explain the process in an easy to understand way...

Today we got a random email from Master Elf informing us that Jingles won't be returning to 3H which is kind of sad.  The good news is Jingles told us that we are getting one of his classmates instead.  I can't wait for our new friend to show up so that we can meet the little guy.  Jingles caused quite a bit of mischief last year in 3H.... Lately in our writing we have learning about dependent clauses and how we can incorporate them into our writing.  You have done a great job transforming those "then" sentences into much improved complex sentences.  We have also spent a great deal of time talking about GOOD, BETTER and BEST. You learned today that we will be having a Grade 3 Presidential Election.  We have narrowed it down to the four potential candidates who will lead their political party and run in the Presidential race! Today we played a game where we had to switch some digits around to make different three digit numbers.  Tomorrow we will be playing a game that is similar to what is on the youtube video below!
